Simplebet, a microbetting technology company, has reported an impressive handle for the first three rounds of the NFL Playoffs. The company enjoyed substantial player engagement, in particular from its ‘Who will score a touchdown on this drive?’ bet, which won $1.5m in handle alone.
The market offers nine selections to bettors, including an option of ‘No Touchdown.’ Among the other choices for an outcome in the selected bets are QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE and Other Player.
During the first three rounds of the Playoffs, 65 touchdowns were scored across twelve games.
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Philadephia Eagles in the Super Bowl LVII on February 12. Sports betting operators are expecting to see particularly high levels of wagers being placed in Pennsylvania and Texas come the Big Game.
Statistics back Simplebet’s business model premise – that bettors are interested in niche wagering options. The report showed that 26% of bettors who wagered on Simplebet’s partner operators placed at least one bet on the nine-selection market (in the divisional and conference championship rounds).
Another niche betting market was Simplebet’s ‘Script’ market, a one-of-a-kind micro time frame bet. Here players could guess whether a play will be a run or pass, and wager on if the play resulted in a first down or not.
Simplebet Co-Founder and CEO Chris Beviliacqua commented: “January has been a banner month for Simplebet, with the College Championship games starting things off strong. The NFL Playoffs got off to a bang with Super Wildcard Weekend and the momentum carried through the following two rounds.
“The Chiefs-Bengals AFC Championship game saw Super Bowl-esque numbers, there was an incredible amount of action on our highly detailed markets, and with points being scored seemingly every drive, more and more bettors wanted a piece of the action.”
