Both companies will partner to enhance fan engagement through brand touchpoints and integrations.

Virtual fantasy sports league SimWin Sports has teamed up with Sports Illustrated through a multi-year agreement. The partnership comes ahead of the fantasy sports league’s first season.

Under the terms of the deal, Sports Illustrated, which owns Authentic Brands Group, will work with SimWin as a presenting partner and offer integrations and multiple brand touchpoints on its platform.

SimWin Sports CEO, David J. Ortiz noted that this strategic partnership can potentially benefit fantasy sports fans, as well as both companies.

He commented: “We are delighted to partner with Sports Illustrated, the most trusted name in sports, as they continue their foray into the metaverse sports space.

“This partnership will bridge our web3 audience to the traditional sports universe – two realms that are converging rapidly – and optimize engagement with the rabid fans SI has cultivated for generations.”

Another aspect of the agreement will give Sports Illustrated ownership of virtual soccer, basketball and football teams that will operate under the team name, The Midnight Train.

Authentic Brands Group Executive Vice Chairman, Tactical Opportunities Dan Dienst said: “Sports Illustrated lives at the intersection of sports and culture, and our continued expansion into the metaverse is an organic next step for the most trusted brand in sports.

“As Authentic continues to build out its sports, media, and web3 verticals, we are thrilled to partner with SimWin as well as become proud owners of three teams in SimWin’s virtual sports leagues.”

SimWin Sports is a virtual sports league that gives its players options to watch, play, collect, predict and earn points during live fantasy events.

Sports Illustrated is also a partner of 888, who have both combined to develop the SI Sportsbook.
