Positive COVID-19 tests among casino employees have continued in the US, with a worker testing positive at Indian Head Casino and one more becoming a confirmed case at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.
Only the former was closed, however, with Indian Head Casino (Oregon) closing on Saturday just three weeks after reopening.
Belinda Chavez, director of marketing at Indian Head, said “everything has been deep cleaned” in preparation for reopening, adding there have been no more additional positive tests since.
Meanwhile, Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino (New York) is working to establish who the employee that tested positive has come into contact with.
The worker is recovering at home, with the area they were operating in temporarily shut down to undergo additional deep cleaning.
The casino, though, remains open, with David Sherdian, interim CEO & CFO at Seneca Gaming Corporation, saying: “We are actively addressing this information per our strict protocols set forth in our Health, Sanitation, and Physical Distancing plan.
"Our team is in contact with the team member. We are also guiding team members who may have encountered the affected team member to the appropriate resources for testing and to seek medical guidance through their physician.”
Despite the New York state-based property having reopened, casinos within New York City remain closed indefinitely.
