Station Casinos has now purchased more land in Southern Nevada with an additional 67 acres located in North Las Vegas. Located off the 215 Beltway and Losee Road, the property was purchased for $55m.
The group plans revealed a 600-hotel room casino with 75,700 square feet of casino space with restaurants, a movie theater, a bowling alley and other amenities.
Last week, Station Casinos sold 21 acres of excess land next to its Durango project for nearly $24m to an apartment developer. The Durango project is a $750m resort located in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.
Scott Kreeger, President of Station parent Red Rock Resorts, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that its Losee project was further down the development line.
Kreeger also said: "We think long term, that’s a very dynamic growth area for residential and business. As that area matures, we’re well positioned to take advantage of that."
The Losee project is expected to be developed in phases starting with 200 hotel rooms, restaurants, three resort-style pools, a 48,000-square-foot casino floor, and a tavern on the corner of the property. These plans were outlined by Station representative Rebecca Miltenberger during a North Las Vegas City Council meeting on November 16.
At the time, Mayor John Lee said: "A lot of people go down the freeway now and see the VA hospital and think it’s a casino. So I think this is something positive for the area. I’m looking forward to something like this coming to our community."
Miltenberger didn't offer a timeline for the completion of the project during the November hearing.
