Elevation Entertainment has submitted its plans to the City of Reno for the development of the Firecreek Resort Casino, a new project the group plans to build across the street from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
The location would include a community park, a beer garden in the center of the resort, a gaming floor with slot machines, table games and a sportsbook.
Building the casino across from the convention center is expected to attract more tourism and positively impact business travel. There are two parcels of land, a 12-acre area and an 8-acre area; both of these were purchased by Elevation Entertainment.
Elevation Entertainment Principal Ryan Stone commented: "The communities going to love it I think that the site needs to be redeveloped and I think what we designed reflects what Reno's about."
This isn't the group's first foray into gaming projects either, as it has developed properties in Chula Vista and in Sacramento County.
Stone added: "We've got a lot of work to do to get everybody excited about this project. We will be in the community and talking to everybody and getting as much support as we possibly can."
The resort is expected to feature over 200 hotel guest rooms and suites with 62,000 square feet of gaming space. Within this area, the group plans to place 1,250 slot machines and over 40 table games.
There has been a family-owned Christmas tree company selling trees on the lot since 2008. The owner stated the possibility of moving has been a subject of conversation in recent years.
Reno Christmas Trees Owner Matthew Altemus told 2News: "We love the people of Reno and our customer base, so we plan to come back even if we do have to move."
