Elys Game Technology (Elys) has been granted conditional approval for Type C sports gaming proprietor licensure from the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC), which goes into effect on January 1, 2023.
The license will run for a five-year period and the commencement of betting transactions in the state is subject to obtaining the required certifications, the payment of license fees and other stipulations.
To prepare for the launch, the company has begun programming its technology platform to comply with the betting compliance specifications of the Ohio Lottery.
It has also entered into an agreement to purchase a hundred point-of-sale terminals and one hundred self-service betting terminals for installation at host locations throughout Ohio.
Recently, Elys Game Technology reported its third quarter 2022 results revealing a US mobile partnership with Lottomatica which will launch in 2023.
Elys Game Technology Executive Chairman Michele Ciavarella commented: "Our US strategy has also proven to be a tremendous success with the real-money deployment of both our small and large retail platform architectures at Grand Central Restaurant Bar and Sportsbook and Ocean Casino Resort, respectively.
"These two extremes of the retail distribution channel put Elys in a league of its own as a key B2B provider for land-based business ventures and casinos throughout the growing and developing regulated US sports betting market."
Elys also signed a sports betting agreement in Maryland and expects to open a gentlemen's club in Washington, DC.
Ciavarella continued: "Apart from our core strengths in the US retail channel, this digital distribution will round out Elys’ full suite of sportsbook technology in the US and leverage the market knowhow we have developed in the regulated Italian market for the past 20 plus years."
