Wynn Las Vegas has developed elaborate artistic collaborations for its new show, ‘Awakening,’ which premiered earlier this month. These collaborations include an animated short film from Art Camp, an acclaimed creative studio and two artistic decks of cards from comic book artist Jen Bartel.
Additionally ‘Awakening’ will feature three, large-format wallscape murals. Allison Hueman is one of three artists recruited to capture the artistic theme of the show with a gigantic wallscape feature.
The mural will be located in the SoMa neighborhood at 5th and Tehema Street in San Francisco. The work is called ‘The Awakening,’ and will be on display through January 2023.
Hueman is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in a “distinctly gauzy” art style which she describes as ‘etherealism.’ Her work can be seen on streets and in galleries worldwide as she has collaborated with major brands such as the Golden State Warriors, Nike and Google,
Wynn also enlisted the talent of Kentaro Yoshimura, a muralist working with the Department of Cultural Affairs. He has experience producing works for well-known clients (both individuals and companies), from Britney Spears to LEGO.
Rounding off the artistic trio is graffiti artist Clyde Thompson who is inspired by architectural details and is passionate about creating unique landmarks for local communities.
In addition to the installations, Wynn Las Vegas is debuting an animated short film that will appear at festivals in 2023. 'Awakening’ was written by Kelly Sue DeConnick who created this companion piece in collaboration with the founders of Art Camp.
Meanwhile, Bartel will design two custom decks of playing cards exclusively for ‘Awakening’. The cards offer a vivid interpretation of Awakening's characters as Jacks, Queens and Kings, imbued with colorful and bold illustrations.
‘Awakening’ was created by Bernie Yuman, Baz Halpin and Michael Curry, and narrated by two-time Academy Award-winner Anthony Hopkins. It premiered at Wynn Las Vegas on November 7, 2022.
