Nevada gaming regulators are scheduled to meet for a Nevada Gaming Commission hearing 25 June, where proposed amendments from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to three state gambling regulations will be discussed and likely accepted.
The amendments would be to NGC Regulations 4, 1 and 14. These would address topics including: gaming devices, new games, as well as systems for mobile gaming, online slot metering, interactive gaming and cashless wagering.
Thursday’s hearing comes after the American Gaming Association (AGA) released its Payments Modernization Policy Principles on 16 June. These seven principles call for regulators in states like Nevada, where gambling is legal, to amend current rules and implement cashless and contactless payment options for gambling.
The seven principles in the policy address player convenience and responsible gambling, payment security and regulation and heightened public health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Associated Press, there are already some Nevada casinos that offer cashless payment options. If the Nevada Gaming Commissions accept the amendments at their hearing on Thursday, it would most likely speed up the process of testing and adding cashless payment options in casinos across the state.
In the Associated Press report last week, chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board Sandra Douglass Morgan said regulators are “open to looking at new ways of how technology, including cashless wagering, can help attract new customers and be beneficial for not only the industry but even for responsible gaming measures as well.”
