GeoComply has been awarded a Tier 1 contractor license for its GeoComply Core and IDComply products from the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
This license will enable GeoComply to supply its geolocation, ID verification, and fraud detection and prevention services to regulated operators in the Free State. This comes ahead of Maryland’s sports betting launch later this quarter, as some experts predict a late November start date.
GeoComply’s SVP of Compliance Lindsay Slader said: “We are very excited about the launch of Maryland’s highly anticipated mobile sports betting market. Our team has worked hard to meet Maryland’s rigorous standards.
“Having our license in hand means that our customers can launch with confidence on day one. We look forward to supporting the compliance needs of operators and providing state regulators with tools and data so they can properly oversee the growth of mobile sports betting in Maryland.”
GeoComply has been making inroads across the US, having been awarded a conditional license by the Ohio Casino Control Commission only last month. This made it the first geolocation company to be awarded a license in Ohio ahead of its January sports betting launch.
GeoComply provides a host of cybersecurity and fraud prevention services, including ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’ technology. Any company providing KYC solutions is required to obtain a supplier license in both Maryland and Ohio; this Tier 1 license will cover all of GeoComply’s IDComply and geolocation services.
