The ad spot is the latest installment in BetMGM’s star-studded ‘It’s On’ marketing initiative.

BetMGM has premiered its latest commercial campaign spot which stars hockey icons Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid, and is scheduled to run through the 2022-23 NHL season. The advert debuted ahead of the league’s October 7 kick-off.

The comic advert sees Gretzky distracting an unamused McDavid while he’s in training, with Gretzky unable to contain his excitement at BetMGM’s app and its newest features. The campaign was created by 72andSunny New York and directed by executive producer Peter Berg, whose credits include Entourage and Ballers.

BetMGM VP of Brand Raymond Doyle expressed his delight at landing these two names for the commercial, saying: “It’s incredible to showcase two of the greatest hockey players on-screen interacting with one another.

“We look forward to entertaining hockey fans during commercial breaks as two of the game’s legends blend sports and entertainment and demonstrate the endless possibilities with BetMGM. ”

The latest spot is part of a broader marketing initiative entitled ‘It’s On,’ which was launched in September and features BetMGM’s bevy of brand ambassadors. These include celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, Vanessa Hudgens, as well as sporting icons including Kevin Garnett, Barry Sanders and Jalen Rose.

The campaign will be delivered as an episodic series going forward. Its first installment hit screens on September 8 and saw Foxx wander around a Bellagio suite meeting various BetMGM ambassadors.

McDavid signed with BetMGM back in March, becoming one of the first active professional athletes from the ‘big four’ professional US sports leagues. He joined hall-of-famer Gretzky, who signed on as a brand ambassador in June 2021.
