The committee could take up to 45 days to approve the application for the Caesars Entertainment casino.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, which is owned by Caesars Entertainment, has submitted an application for a mobile sports betting license.

According to the Horseshoe Casino, the limited liability corporation formed for the license, Caesars Maryland Mobile Opportunity, includes 40% women and minority membership.

Caesars Digital President Eric Hession said: "We're very pleased to have structured our application in a way that not only reflects our corporate mission to promote diversity, equity and inclusion but is consistent with the spirit of Maryland sports betting legislation, which seeks to create business ownership opportunities that otherwise might not exist."

The group has landed several partners which include local businesspeople Eddie Brown, Cecil Flamer, Maria Beckett and James Scott Jr.

Maryland House Speaker Adrienne Jones commented: "Caesars' success in bringing on significant minority ownership in their sports wagering program is tangible proof that the General Assembly's intentional pursuit to create diversity in new markets can be successful."

Back in September, the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission decided to allow rolling approval of online sportsbook licenses instead of imposing official launch dates.

Any individual or business attempting to secure a license will need to submit an application by October 21, 2022.

Caesars Entertainment released a tweet stating the company looks forward to working with "local partners and state regulators in hopes of soon providing Marylanders with a world-class online sports betting experience."

It could take up to 45 days for he committee to approve Horseshoe Casino's application. However, since the Horshoe Casino Baltimore met several prerequisites in its application, it could take much less time.
