Global Gaming Women (GGW) has congratulated Virginia McDowell for being one of the three inductees to the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Hall of Fame Class 2022. Honorees will celebrate at an induction ceremony during the Global Gaming Expo at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas this fall.
The GGW celebrates women who have succeeded in the gambling industry and Virginia McDowell epitomizes its values: across her career, she has been a CEO, founding board chair, advisor and an all-around gaming visionary.
Recently, McDowell received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the East Coast Gaming Congress and was announced as the first female set to be inducted into the Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame.
McDowell has a storied career, having served as the only female president and CEO at a top gaming operating company – the Isle of Capri Casinos – from 2007-2016. In 2009, she was named ‘Gaming Executive of the Year’ by Casino Journal Magazine. She now acts as a non-executive director for Entain, where she chairs the Environmental, Social and Governance committee.
Furthermore, she is a member of the board of trustees of Saint Louis University, a trustee at HavenHouse St Louis and an advisory board member of the St Louis Crisis Nursery.
GGW board chair and president Cassie Stratford commented: “From the beginning, Virginia has been tirelessly focused on acquiring the support and resources necessary to develop the next generation of women leaders in the gaming industry. On behalf of GGW's board and members, we congratulate her on this incredible recognition of her contributions to the gaming industry."
