Best month ever: Borgata Casino sets all-time record for Atlantic City casino

Sports betting is partially credited for the excellent result.

Internet gambling and sports betting have been credited with pushing Borgata Casino in Atlantic City to the top of all casinos in the area for the month of July.

This concluded with Borgata achieving the best month for a casino in the history of the region.

The numbers released by New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement show the Borgata as the city’s top-performing casino, winning over $124m from in-person casino gamblers, internet wagering and sports betting.

Online and sports betting money is split with partners, so the casino won't keep all of it.

In-person gambling revenue was down at Borgata and four other Atlantic City casinos in July 2022 when compared to July 2019, which is why internet gambling was credited.

Borgata President Travis Lunn attributed the record-setting month to "incredibly strong numbers across the board including a record slots performance."

Lunn went on to comment: "When you look at the health of Atlantic City as a whole, it shows people are visiting and enjoy the activities they love.

"I believe it is a sign and recognition of the reinvestment our industry is placing into Atlantic City."

Before Borgata's record month in July, the best month for an Atlantic City casino was in September of 2021. This record was also set by  Borgata when the casino and its partners won nearly $112m according to New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Lloyd D. Levenson Institute Director Jane Bokunewicz added: "That Borgata delivered this performance in a month in which the property’s brick and mortar gaming revenues did not surpass 2019 levels, underlines the importance of the new internet gaming and sports betting products in the property’s overall revenue stream."

Lunn was named President and CEO of Borgata in July of this year.
