The ‘Game On’ cards give sports bettors more funding options with their preferred operator.

Blackhawk Network has announced that it has received approval from the New York Gaming Commission and Louisiana to provide its payment and sports betting gift cards in both these states. The Blackhawk ‘Game On’ gift card features multiple sportsbook brands that allow customers to add funds to their accounts with selected operators.

The Game On cards from Blackhawk Network, introduced in 2020, have seen quick adoption and expansion. Since its launch, Game On cards have given sports bettors more flexibility in respect to their funding options with several operators available, including FanDuel, DraftKings Sportsbook, BetRivers and BetMGM, with options varying by state.

These cards are now approved for sale at New York and Louisiana retailers or as an eGift available for purchase on BlackHawk’s site, GetGameOn.

Blackhawk Network Managing Director, Americas, Steve Dekker, commented: “As a branded payments provider for top retailers, we’re bullish about providing our partners with the most compelling and on-trend gift card content, which now includes our Game On cards and other single-branded sports betting products.”

Dekker will be excited about the rate at which states are legalizing sports betting. He remarked: “As New York, Louisiana, and other states continue growth in the gaming category, we’re pleased to be able to provide retailers with another option for players to spend, budget and also gift the entertainment of sports betting.”

Sports betting is a lucrative industry, with New York being one of the latest states to legalize this form of gambling. The second-quarter sports wagering revenue in 2022 soared to $1.42bn, a 58.7% increase year-on-year from the same period in 2021, demonstrating its popularity across the states where it is legalized.
