The company expects that the casino will bring economic benefits to the local community.

The Hard Rock Casino in Bristol, Virginia has had a grand opening with the company’s executives, state and local officials attending as well as local business and civic members. As part of the opening ceremony, a traditional ribbon cutting took place before the attendees participated in a signature Hard Rock guitar smashing.

During the ceremony, a $100,000 check, representing Hard Rock’s gaming proceeds from July 5 - July 7, was presented to the United Way of Bristol charity. The casino officially opened its doors at 2PM (EST) on July 8.

The newest Hard Rock franchise is a temporary full-service casino encompassing 30,000 square feet of space with 870 slots, 21 tables and a sportsbook. The spacious facility will also include high limit gaming areas, a new restaurant and a sports bar with live entertainment which will be open to the public 24/7. Hard Rock Bristol is currently constructing its permanent casino and hopes to open it within two years.

It is hoped that the new casino will have a positive impact on Bristol’s economy, bringing at least 600 new jobs and additional tax revenue across all of Southwest Virginia.

Clyde Stacy and United Company CEO Jim McGlothlin commented, “Local businesses in the Tri-Cities will see an economic development boost from increased tourism visitation and spending. This would not have been possible without the strong support from local residents and leaders, for which we remain incredibly grateful."

Bristol is officially recognized as the ‘Birthplace of Country Music.’ Early recordings by artists such as Jimmie Rodgers would become known as the ‘Bristol Sessions’ and inspire country music nationwide.

Hard Rock CEO Jon Lucas alluded to Bristol’s famed cultural status, commenting: “Hard Rock's rich and storied music legacy is a perfect fit for Bristol, the 'Birthplace of Country Music.’

“The casino's gaming and dining amenities will make it a major entertainment destination for residents from across the region. We look forward to opening the permanent casino within two years and bringing the full legendary Hard Rock experience to Bristol."
