The Las Vegas Raiders have announced Sandra Douglass Morgan as its new president. Morgan is a Las Vegas native and has a long history of trailblazing, having been the first person of color to act as commissioner on the Nevada Gaming Control Board, where she served from January 2019 - December 2020.
This was just one highlight of an illustrious career that includes working as a city attorney for Las Vegas, following a successful stint at the law firm Covington & Burling. Her legal career began as a litigation attorney for MGM Resorts, so she is steeped in experience needed for this high-profile role.
Morgan believes this new position with the Las Vegas Raiders is a feather in the cap to her impressive resume. She commented, "It is the honor of a lifetime to join the Raiders at one of the most defining times in the team's history. This team's arrival in Las Vegas has created a new energy and opportunities we never dreamed possible. I look forward to taking this team's integrity, spirit, and commitment to excellence on the field into every facet of this organization."
The Las Vegas Raiders enjoyed a strong 2021 season in the AFC West. winning ten games and losing seven to finish second. They also recently moved to the impressive Allegiant Stadium, which was constructed in 2020 at a cost of $1.9bn. It boasts a capacity of 65,000, with 127 private suites and high-tech gaming solutions such as cashless concession stands and sensory pods.
