International Game Technology (IGT) has announced the release of its 15th sustainability report, which demonstrates the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
The company wishes to highlight its commitment to operating an ecologically sustainable business. IGT CEO Vince Sadusky says, “We are developing our sustainability plans to further integrate sustainability across the entire chain and improve the ESG impact throughout our daily operations.
“Highlighted in our 2021 sustainability report, this plan outlines strategic goals that will drive our ESG performance, now and in the future." The latest report emphasizes its commitment to four self-made key principles of sustainable practices.
The first principle is people-focused (‘Valuing and Protecting Our People), with IGT emphasizing value and respect for the contributions of all employees, as well as the need to create a multicultural work environment that is suited for this era of global business. IGT issued its first human rights policy statement, outlining its commitment to championing human rights globally.
Responsibility is the second principle in the report: the company follows standards of responsible gaming throughout the industry. In 2021, IGT released its global responsible gaming policy to inform all stakeholders about IGT's worldwide programs and solutions.
IGT also obtained recertification from the World Lottery Association's associate member corporate social responsibility standards and certification framework.
Community is the third principle the report focuses on. The company uses corporate programs, aligned with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, to support communities where its operations and employees are located. IGT’s charitable arm aids communities suffering from the ongoing effects of Covid-19.
The final principle of fostering sustainable operations is one IGT has been very proactive about: in 2021, it joined the Science Based Targets initiative. With this commitment, IGT has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contribute to low-carbon emissions and improve IGT's ESG impact.
Sandusky comments, “"IGT understood the vast importance of sustainability 15 years ago when we issued the Company's first sustainability report, and our 2021 sustainability report underscores the progress we have made since then."
