Betfred Sports have teamed up with Long Shot’s restaurant to bring a new brand of sports betting to Maryland, pending regulatory approval. They plan to open a retail sportsbook that will be located adjacent to the Maryland Jockey Club’s off-track betting area.
The sportsbook is planned to debut in time for the 2022 football season this fall, with the intent of converting sports fans to loyal patrons of Long Shot’s. The venue will be 8,000 square feet with a state-of-the-art sportsbook and a video wall with comfortable, theater-style seating.
SCCG Management represented Betfred Sports in this deal. The companies have held a successful partnership for years now and their joint ventures include Wind Creek, a leading Pennsylvania casino. Outside Pennsylvania, SCCG acted on behalf of Betfred Sports in We-Ko-Pa in Arizona, Virgin Mohegan Sun in Nevada and Saratoga in Colorado.
They are hopeful that this Long Shot’s sportsbook will prove to be as prosperous as their previous dealings together. Betfred Sports identified the restaurant as a potential partner early into its search for another Maryland partner.
Betfred Sports Chief Operating Officer Bryan Bennett said: “When combining Betfred’s 50 years of bookmaking experience and Long Shot’s success with off-track betting, we believe this will be a formidable partnership to compete in the Maryland sports betting space.”
Long Shot’s is delighted with this new partnership and takes satisfaction with pioneering sports betting in Maryland. The restaurant’s CEO Alyse Cohen stated: “We are proud that Long Shot’s is one of the premier off-track betting locations in the state and we look forward to achieving similar success with sports wagering.
"We were at the forefront of bringing sports betting to Maryland and specifically to Frederick. We are thrilled to open a sportsbook at Long Shot’s in partnership with Betfred Sports.”
Cohen believes that this new venture will have underlying benefits for the local community. He commented: “Long Shot’s will not only boost the local economy but contribute to enhancing the education of our students.”
Long Shot’s, based in Frederick County, will be the first and only 100% female-owned business in the state of Maryland to house a sportsbook.
