Planet Sport, a sports media company, has launched a content service tailored toward French-speaking Canadians. The localized service brings with it translation services for Canada’s native French speakers.
The service will offer translations of deposit and withdrawal options, as well as responsible gambling messaging, licensing and explainer guides, and will also translate tutorials regarding sports betting.
Translations will be offered for other “static content” such as casino and virtual offerings.
The company said it seeks to expand its footprint in Canada following the recent launch of Ontario’s commercial market.
Online gaming in Ontario has been live since April 4. Local lotteries have traditionally dominated Canada’s gambling sector.
Ontario is projected to become one of North America’s largest iGaming markets once open.
Planet Sport’s Head of International Betting Content Andrew Morgan commented: “Canada is set to become one of the largest betting markets in the world, especially following the launch of Ontario. But to succeed in such a competitive market, operators, suppliers and affiliates must carefully localize their offerings.
“Given the prevalence of the French-Canadian language across the country, with more than seven million speakers, translating content accurately and with a real human touch is an absolute must.”
One fifth of all Canadian speak French as their native language. More than half a million French-speaking Canadians live in Ontario.
Morgan went on to remark about the opportunity for company growth that can come from launching a service that accommodates French Canadians.
He concluded by saying: “French Canadian is a great addition to our growing translation bureau, and we look forward to working with operators, suppliers and affiliates to help them maximize the huge potential Canada has to offer.”
