George Wensel Technical Achievement Award was awarded to the partners at the 43rd annual Sports Emmys.

CBS Sports and Second Spectrum, a division of Genius Sports, partnered to power RomoVision which won the George Wensel Technical Achievement Award after just one season.

RomoVision combines the NFL’s Next Gen Stats (NGS) feed with Second Spectrum’s live video augmentation. Player movements are tracked and drawn on-screen during first replays and are accompanied by Tony Romo’s analysis.

This award is considered one of the most prestigious Sports Emmys, which recognizes tech-based innovations in sports production and broadcasting.

President at Second Spectrum, Rajiv Maheswaran stated: "We are incredibly proud of the innovative work done by our dedicated technical and creative teams along with our great partners at CBS to make RomoVision come alive. We are grateful for the recognition and look forward to continuing to improve and personalize the experiences of sports fans everywhere."

Second Spectrum was acquired by Genius Sports in May of 2021. As the NFL's exclusive distributor of official league data, Genius Sports powers fan experiences by using personalized, data-driven technology.

Mark Locke, the CEO of Genius Sports stated: "Winning a Sports Emmy is a fantastic achievement that demonstrates how we are redefining fan engagement across the entire sports industry."

He continued: "RomoVision is leading a new wave of broadcast innovations, and Rajiv and his team have done a brilliant job working with CBS to gamify and enrich the NFL viewing experience."

Early in May of 2022 Genius Sports signed an official data, trading and live streaming deal with Brazilian sportsbook Betsul. They will now deliver sports betting content in Latin America as well.

Genius Sports is set to offer its portfolio of Brazilian content through existing partnerships with the English Premier League, Liga MX, the Argentine Primera División, and Dimayor to Betsul sportsbook users.
