Penn National expands rewards program for veterans, servicemembers and first responders

The move comes on the back of donations to veterans' groups across the country.

Penn National Gaming has expanded a trademark program – myheroes – which honors the military veterans, active-duty personnel and first responders among its customers.

The program was inaugurated in May 2021 and it extends an exclusive integrated version of Penn National’s rewards program, known as mychoice, to the above-stated category of people who have or are serving the country or their communities.

Among the benefits are exclusive discounts, one-of-a-kind events, and offers at Penn National’s 44 properties, which range across 20 states throughout the nation.

This move to serve those who served their country is not a novel one for the gaming company. In February of this year – to celebrate the milestone of 100,000 members enrolled – Penn National dedicated $100,000 to veterans and first responder organizations in the areas in which it is operational.

In the several months since that milestone, a further 25,000 members have enrolled. Cumulatively, these have made two million unique visits to Penn National properties over the last year.

The deals also extend to a chosen companion of the veterans, active-duty servicemembers and first responders.

In the latest iteration, the myheroes program will also create a network of ambassadors across the country. Working with marketing and human resources departments, calendars will be built to push promotions and special events around holidays and other noteworthy days in the calendar. Community engagement is emphasized, as Penn National looks to further burnish its reputation.

Group CEO Jay Snowden commented on the expansion of the program: “On the anniversary of the launch of myheroes, we are proud to expand this multi-dimensional program to recognize Penn National team members who have served and sacrificed.

“Our team has thoughtfully developed myheroes to ensure it is truly meaningful and best-in-class for the heroes in our communities, which includes our own team members. Broadening this already-successful program deepens our commitment to supporting service members, which continues to be a key priority for our company.”
