The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the State of Nevada's Division of Industrial Relations, recognized and awarded two Boyd Gaming properties with two top safety awards.
Their entry into the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), marks the first time in history for a Boyd Gaming property. The properties we're referring two is Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel and the California Hotel and Casino.
In partnership with SCATS, Boyd Gaming developed its employee safety program. The consultants for SCATS, provide employers with confidential hazard identification, program development, implementation assistance, and training.
Andre Filosi stated: "Creating a safe environment for our team members and guests is a top priority for Boyd Gaming. We are proud of our Company's long-standing partnership with Nevada SCATS that has helped us implement comprehensive safety programs and set the standard for excellence in workplace safety."
Filosi is the Vice President and General Manager of the California Hotel and Casino, Fremont Hotel and Casino, and Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel. Two of the three hotels Filosi is responsible for are now entered in SHARP.
SHARP is a no-cost program that provides incentives and support to employers to develop, implement and improve programs at their worksite(s). By participating, employers can ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) regulations.
The successful SHARP participants could potentially receive up to a three-year deferral from OSHA's generally scheduled inspections.
Todd Schultz, Chief Administrative Officer for SCATS, said: "Boyd Gaming is a committed safety leader within the casino industry. It's an honor to support Nevada-based companies like this that ensure their employees return home safe and healthy every day."
