DraftKings has announced a partnership between the company and former Notre Dame football player Mike Golic Jr. who was most recently affiliated with ESPN Radio until February 8.
Now, in his first project with DraftKings, Golic Jr. will host a daily podcast titled the "Gojo" podcast. He'll partner with former teammate and friend, Brandon Newman, providing their perspective on sports and cultural topics each day.
Newman has worked for companies such as Barstool Sports and as a Digital Content Associate for NBCUniversal Media. The official title he has for the Gojo podcast is a Senior Producer, which he revealed via Twitter.
In the tweet, Newman said: "I get to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, go pro with my boy @mikegolicjr! This is going to be fun." The Gojo podcast will join a growing list of content provided by DraftKings.
Speaking on his decision to partner with DraftKings, Golic Jr. said: "When I look at the future of sports media, joining DraftKings was an easy decision for me."
He continued: "As someone who is passionate about creating content, having the freedom to develop original programming is the perfect opportunity at the perfect time. I’m excited to partner with Brandon as we take our individual and shared experiences as former teammates to the airwaves."
Vice President of Programming at DraftKings, Stacie McCollum added: "Mike’s addition to the media family is another example of DraftKings partnering with high-profile talent and trusted personalities across sports media."
McCollum points out that: "Leveraging his strong social currency, he [Golic Jr.] and Brandon will tackle subjects that represent the broader interests and hobbies of today’s sports fan"
The Gojo podcast will debut on May 2 and run Monday through Friday each week with hour-long episodes. Mike Golic Sr. also has a partnership with DraftKings for the podcast Golic and Smetty.
