The New York sports betting market has been an undeniable success in its first four months of operation; however, players are yet to land on an operator to commit their hard-earned cash to.
Indeed, according to this data, the average player in the Empire State has used 3.3 different betting apps; this is a relatively large increase when compared to the 2.8 apps used in New Jersey.
While loyalty may not yet be a virtue in New York, those using FanDuel have shown the most commitment, with 76% of players sticking with the operator.
Meanwhile, 47% of players named Caesars Sportsbook as the most memorable sports betting advertising campaign, but the operator fell far short of DraftKings and FanDuel in terms of usability.
“Our research takes a deep dive into the mind of the New York bettor and their experience thus far,” said Jai Maw, Co-Founder and President of Betting Hero.
“The launch of sports betting in New York is one of the biggest industry developments in years. While many questions remain about this market, our research provides the best initial findings available.”
The vast majority, 81%, of New York City residents claim they have bet with out-of-state operators in the past. This is likely due to the close proximity of high-profile gaming states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
This data was collected among residents of the Empire State throughout March 2022, the third month of the market’s operation. All of those that took part were over the age of 21.
