The Nevada Gaming Commission has awarded a nonrestricted gaming license to William Hill, who will manage the sportsbook and race at the Palms.
The revamped location is scheduled to reopen April 27.
This is not the first license William Hill has acquired. The company has been licensed several times in Nevada.
Part of the conditions for approval hinge on installing a surveillance system, which the Gaming Control Board must inspect and approve within two months. Ticket writers also must be employed by William Hill as part of the approval conditions.
Caesars Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Regulatory Compliance Jeffrey Hendricks said: “It’s going to be a top-flight sportsbook project.”
Hendricks recently told Gaming Control Board members that the renovated sportsbook would have five betting stations and six kiosks when it reopens. Any changes made to those specifications would need administrative approval.
The Palms is currently owned by The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The tribe recently announced it will hold a traditional tribal ceremony for the reopening and will also have a fireworks display as part of the celebration.
Hotel sales began earlier this month. Once reopened, the Palms will host guests for the first time in more than two years. The reopening coincides with the NFL draft, which starts on April 28 and will take place at Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard.
William Hill is a prominent sportsbook operator through the state of Nevada and is currently a unit of Caesars Entertainment Inc., following a $4bn purchase agreement for the sports betting business last year. The company operates 124 locations statewide.
