The rock band Shinedown was recently inducted into the Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame. Its members Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch were present at the ceremony on Saturday to accept the star before they performed a sold-out concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment President of Sports and Entertainment Tom Cantone said: “They’ve broken every record – I can’t even list off the things they’ve done. Ten million records sold, billions of streams, they’re [everywhere] on the Billboard charts. They’re awesome and incredible.”
Cantone presented the band with the Walk of Fame star and commemorative plaque.
The show was part of Shinedown’s Planet Zero World Tour, which also features Diamante and The Pretty Reckless. The band has played at the Mohegan Sun Arena six times and has had five sold-out shows there since 2010.
“We love playing this arena,” Myers said. “It’s probably one of our most favorite arenas to play in, and I’m not just saying that. Everybody here has always been so amazing to us, and every time we come, you guys sell it out. Thank you very much, seriously. It means the world to us to come to this part of the world and have you guys show up.”
The Walk recognizes individuals and organizations that contributed to the Mohegan Sun’s success as an entertainment venue.
Shinedown is the 36th member to be inducted into the Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame. Other notable inductees include Bon Jovi, Kevin Hart, KISS, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.
