Comes amid a number of new hires for the company.

In a month that has seen a number of new hires for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, the Uncasville, Connecticut-based operation has announced yet another: Nelson Parker has been appointed Senior Vice President, Strategic Development.

The remit of his appointment is to find and follow through on growth strategies as well as pinpoint new opportunities that can undergird the company’s expansion.

Parker brings to the role a wealth of experience in the hospitality and casino business.

Prior to coming to Mohegan Sun, Parker held a diverse number of roles. Most immediately prior, he was Managing Director at Driftwood Capital, a private equity group that specializes in hospitality and gaming investments.

Before this, he was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Penn National Gaming, Senior Vice President of Hotel & Casino Development at Hard Rock International, Vice President of Development for Foxwoods Resort Casino, as well as the Corporate Director of Development at Argosy Gaming.

Leadership at Mohegan Sun is keen to welcome him aboard. Said Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Carol Anderson: “We are thrilled to welcome Nelson Parker to our executive team to lead the development of key projects and strategic partnerships.

“With over 25 years of experience driving growth strategies in both gaming and non-gaming corporations, Nelson’s expertise in omni-channel global gaming markets, Native American gaming, lodging and hospitality will contribute to MGE’s continued success.”

Parker will report to Anderson directly in his new role.

Mohegan Sun is looking at an important few years in terms of development. Its Pocono location is undergoing a renovation that should be completed by the end of this year, and an entirely new location is due to be completed next year in Incheon, South Korea.
