Gambling.com Group poised for upcoming Ontario iGaming launch

Its OntarioBets site has been in place since November 2021 in anticipation of the market opening on April 4.

Gambling.com Group will start providing marketing services in the Canadian province of Ontario for licensed online sports betting and iGaming operators. In preparation for next week’s launch, the company launched OntarioBets.com, a free-to-use website that will give players access to legal online sportsbooks, casinos and current information regarding gambling in the province.

Gambling Group CEO and Co-Founder Charles Gillespie said: “The launch of regulated online sports betting and iGaming is a major milestone and achievement for Ontario’s gaming industry. The province is taking the right approach by keeping the barriers to entry low and allowing a variety of operators to enter the market.

“This will foster competition and ultimately benefit consumers as the operators with the best products rise to the top. Gambling.com Group is well positioned to help operators and customers succeed in this new and exciting market.”

The Ontario market is scheduled to open on April 4 and is the first Canadian province to offer iGaming to its residents. Up to now, local lotteries have traditionally dominated Canada’s gambling sector. According to H2 Gambling Capital, Canada’s combined online sports betting and iCasino markets in 2022 are estimated at more than $2bn.

Ontario is projected to become one of North America’s largest iGaming markets once open.

Gambling Group VP Caroline Smart said: “It is thrilling to have a market open date for Ontario, marking the first licensed sports betting and online casino market in Canada. After many years of only having one legal option through the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the robust offerings in the Ontario marketplace will ensure there is a lot of choice and opportunity for customers.

“With passionate sports fans and some of the most storied NHL franchises, we believe that Ontario will quickly become one of the largest markets in North America and Gambling.com Group is prepared to help consumers navigate their new world of options.”
