The Cordish Companies to donate $1m to National Medal of Honor Museum
Company will also help lead a year-long fundraising effort.
The Cordish Family Foundation – the charitable arm of the casino developer and operator behind the Live! Dining, Entertainment, and Casino Resort Properties – has made a $1m donation to the soon-to-be-built National Medal of Honor Museum.
The donation also inaugurated a year-long fundraising drive by the museum. The Cordish Family Foundation will continue to be involved in the effort and has pledged to raise an additional $1m.
The Cordish Companies’ properties will encourage guests to donate to the cause over the next year.
Ground was broken over the weekend at the site in Arlington, Texas where the museum is due to be constructed. The museum will aim to tell the stories of Medal of Honor recipients. The medal, awarded for valor, is the highest decoration a soldier can receive in the United States Military.
National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation President and CEO Chris Cassidy expressed support for the move: “We are lucky to have The Cordish Companies and Live! as tremendous partners in this historic project to honor the bravest of the brave and inspire America with their stories and legacies.
“Engaging the millions of visitors to Cordish’s Live! Districts across the country will exponentially raise awareness for this mission.”
The Cordish Companies also voiced support for the move. Company Principle and National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation Board Member Reed Cordish commented: “It is a great honor for The Cordish Companies and my family to partner with the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.
“The National Medal of Honor Museum will create a meaningful place for our country to honor the selflessness, service and sacrifices made by our Medal of Honor recipients and we are incredibly proud to support this mission.”
The museum is due to be completed in 2024.
