IGT adopts measures to address Problem Gambling Awareness Month
Move will include outreach on social media pages and funding for research.
International Game Technology (IGT) is taking steps to address problem gambling ahead of Problem Gambling Awareness Month. As part of this effort, IGT will launch a social media campaign – Positive Play – and make a contribution to the International Center for Responsible Gaming.
Problem Gambling Awareness Month – which was developed by the National Council on Problem Gambling – is held every March and seeks to raise public awareness of the dangers inherent in problem gambling.
The Positive Play campaign was debuted on IGT’s Gaming LinkedIn page. Throughout Problem Gambling Awareness Month, it will show videos of employees discussing important matters surrounding the issue.
IGT’s donation to the International Center for Responsible Gaming will support a lottery research fund as well as a responsible gaming research fund. This move builds on 25 years of work that the Center has supported to provide independent and peer-reviewed research that aims to better understand problem gambling.
IGT SVP Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Wendy Montgomery made the following comments on the issue: “Responsible gaming has been a large part of IGT’s DNA for many years, and the importance of it is instilled in our employees across all business segments through a variety of programs.
“It is through industry initiatives such as Problem Gambling Awareness Month that we can showcase our leadership in this space on a broader scale and bring further awareness to our customers and their players. We are pleased with the strides IGT has made in promoting Positive Play within all gaming verticals and will continue our contributions and support of the industry’s most prestigious responsible gaming organizations.”
