Marks one of the first licenses granted in the hotly-anticipated new market.

888 Holdings has further expanded its reach in the North American market after receiving a license to operate its iGaming platform in the soon-to-be-open Ontario market.

The European-based company is looking forward to offering its wide array of content, which includes casino, sports and poker products

The company’s iGaming license was one of the very first granted by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Regulated gaming in the Canadian province is due to go live on April 4.

The gaming company will be well-positioned to take advantage of what is one of the most anticipated debuts of the year. Ontario is likely to make waves in the industry similar to what New York State achieved when it went live in January of this year, and across Canada people will be looking to it to see how the future of regulated gaming should unfold across the nation.

This is by no means 888’s first foray into the North American market. Of the 19 regulated market licenses it holds, seven are in US states. Revenue from these regulated and taxed markets amounts to 74% of the company’s revenue from 2021.

CEO of 888, Itai Pazner, struck a sanguine tone when commenting on the new Ontario license: “We are delighted to have been awarded a license by the AGCO and look forward to launching in the market when it officially opens.

“As a group, our focus is on strengthening our presence and offerings to customers across key regulated markets. To that end, Ontario represents an attractive long-term growth opportunity for 888 and this is an extremely strategically important milestone for us.”
