Boyd Gaming donates perishable foods across eight states

Boyd Gaming has donated thousands of pounds of perishable foods across eight states in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

David Strow, VP of Corporate Communications for Boyd Gaming, tells Gaming America: “What happened was when we had these closures, our kitchens and our properties had considerable quantities of perishable food items.

"So we felt the best solution to that was to donate it to the local food banks and get it out to the communities. There is obviously an increased need for food right now so that’s what drove our thought process.”

Boyd Gaming’s 12 Las Vegas properties each donated a truck load of food to Three Square, a local food bank.

Strow said: “It was easily in the thousands of pounds of perishable foods like milk, cheese, meat, bread, things like that. We basically did the same in our other communities across the country.”

When casinos eventually re-open, Boyd Gaming will have to restock its kitchens.

Strow said: “That’s a challenge we’re looking forward to, to be quite honest, because that means we will be through this.”
