Results come amid a year inflected with general uncertainty.

Konami Holdings Corporation, the globe-spanning Japanese conglomerate, has released its third quarter financial results for the 2022 fiscal year. The report covers the nine-month period ending December 31, 2021.

Revenue for that span of time reached JPY215.05bn ($1.7bn), a figure which marks a 57% growth in profit to JPY42.38bn.

All four of the group’s divisions – digital entertainment, amusements, sports, and gaming & systems – saw growth, but it was this last area, the area most relevant to readers of this platform, that saw the most growth.

Altogether, gaming & systems was up 59% over the prior year, with JPY18.68bn in revenue.

There were a number of highlights for that division over the quarter. Among these was the release of Fortune Mint on Konami’s Dimension 27 and Dimension 49 core cabinets. This product did notably well in the US market.

The cabinets themselves were able to launch in Australia, a boon to the bottom line Down Under.

Finally, the group’s casino management system, Synkros, has seen installations continue apace in casinos across several markets.

Amusements saw the second highest increase, rising by 22%. This was followed by 18% growth in the sports division, and a 6% growth for digital entertainment. This last division is Konami’s greatest source of revenue.

The group noted in its report that the overall economic situation is improving as people slowly become vaccinated and the virus increasingly tamed. As restrictions on casinos ease, the market “is recovering gradually.”

Still, the report does underscore the essential uncertainty the market continues to face. As a result, it was unable to release a predictive outlook for the next quarter.
