Online entertainment company Interwetten on Tuesday said it has signed a multiyear partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL).
The two parties said in a statement the aim of the strategic partnership is to provide ice hockey fans with an emotional experience centered around the “fascination and myth” of the NHL. In addition to increasing brand awareness, they said the focus will be on establishing an individualized entertainment offering in combination with secure betting products for hockey fans.
For Interwetten, founded in Vienna and currently headquartered in Malta, the NHL deal comes on the heels of recent extensions of its partnerships with the German Ski Association (DSV) and the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV).
“As a reliable sports betting provider, we focus our engagements and collaborations in sports with long-term partnerships that enable maximum entertainment,” Stefan Sulzbacher, Speaker of the Board at Interwetten, said in a statement. “We are proud that we will realize – along with our partners Sport International Group und LOBECO – a multiyear partnership with the NHL.”
John Lewicki, NHL Vice President, Business Development and Partnerships, International, added: “We are excited to welcome Interwetten as an Official Partner of the NHL. Interwetten is a leader in the sports betting category, delivering great entertainment to their customers through creative marketing initiatives. We look forward to working with Interwetten to engage the ever-growing hockey fanbase across Austria and Germany.”
Interwetten offers several forms of online entertainment. In addition to classic sports betting, the company’s portfolio is supplemented by a comprehensive live betting service. In 2021, bets were placed on 150,000 live events. Interwetten also operates live casinos featuring some 1,200 games through more than 30 providers.
