Circa Sports pays out in largest ever football survival contest
Two contests cap an exciting football season for the Las Vegas-based sportsbook.
Circa Sports continues to live up to a reputation befitting a company whose Las Vegas headquarters contains the (physically) largest sportsbook in the world: this week it awarded $11m to winners of its professional football contests, Circa Survivor and Circa Million III.
In the process of the former of these events (both concluded on January 9), there were six individual $1m payouts, making Circa Survivor the largest legal survival football contest the world has ever seen.
Its five winners received a collective $7m.
Circa Million III – called such because this is its third year running – awarded $4m. The last winner was the recipient of a cool million dollars.
The impresario who runs Circa Sports, CEO Derek Stevens, was characteristically enthused about his company’s achievement: “Our team at Circa Sports introduced some of the biggest football contests in the world within three years of operation, and the payouts were extraordinary.
“We were thrilled to award six individuals with seven-figure prizes, and even got to celebrate with a few of them during game 20 in the world’s largest sportsbook at Circa Resort & Casino. It was a tremendous year for football, and we are looking forward to see what’s in store for next season’s contests.”
Since launching in 2019, Circa Sports has emerged as a lodestar for the sports betting industry. At its casino – the first to be built in downtown Las Vegas since the early 1980s – there is a monument to betting: a sportsbook with a three-story screen on which spectators can follow the action.
