Nevada casinos January revenue tops $1bn

Nevada casinos took in $1bn of January revenue for a year-on-year increase of more than 5%.

Clark County casinos led the way with $904m, up 5%. 

The Las Vegas Strip was responsible for $572m of the earnings, while downtown casinos took in $59m, an improvement of 13%. 

Elsewhere in the state, Washoe County reported $65m in revenue carried by Reno casino earnings of $48m. Washoe County’s January pull grew by 8%.

South Lake Tahoe posted a strong start to 2020 with monthly revenue of $20m, up 18%. 

Nevada sportsbooks performed well despite a dropoff in football wagering. 

The gridiron produced $6m in revenue, down 27%. 

Basketball proved to be the biggest winner for sports betting, as sportsbooks earned $13m for a 113% increase. 

Mobile sports betting provided $11m in revenue. 

For table and card games, baccarat amounted to casino winnings of $112m, up 17%. 

Twenty One was next closest with $96m for an increase of 7%. 

In total table and card games revenue improved by 13%. 

Casinos were less lucky at the slots, where revenue jumped 2% to $673m. 

Multi denomination slots showed the greatest improvement as earnings rose to $292m, an increase of 7%.
