Playtech has signed a new strategic partnership with Canadian online casino and sports wagering company, NorthStar.
The supplier will provide its IMS platform for use across all of NorthStar Gaming's platforms, in accordance with the terms of the contract.
“NorthStar Gaming is thrilled to be the exclusive Canadian partner in the media and publishing sector with Playtech, the world's leading gambling technology supplier,” Michael Moskowitz, Founding Partner and CEO of NorthStar Gaming, said.
"Playtech's industry-leading suite of tools will give us an unmatched edge in the marketplace, given our proprietary content and localization; something we know consumers are looking for.”
Both companies are now awaiting regulatory and licensing approvals before implementing the relevant gaming software, despite agreeing on terms.
The partnership came weeks after the launch of Playtech’s live casino facilities in two US states. Its intention is to next expand into other international markets.
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with NorthStar Gaming as it prepares to launch its market leading online gaming business in Canada,” said Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO. "Our success is driven by strategic partnerships with industry-leading operators around the world and we are excited to partner with a leading entertainment company like NorthStar Gaming.”
Playtech also has plans to finalize an agreement with Aristocrat Leisure, an Australian slot machine maker, for £2.7bn ($3.66bn). This is pending shareholder approval. Unless Eddie Jordan's JKO Play wins the bidding war, Playtech will move forward with this project as well.
