Codere Online goes live in Buenos Aires
Move indicates continued expansion for operator in Latin America.
Codere Online, an operator active in both Europe and Latin America has announced that it has gone live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Codere’s gaming and sports betting offerings will be available online following an initial five-year license issued by LOTBA, the body regulating gambling in the Argentine capital.
The move expands Codere’s global footprint. In addition to Buenos Aires, the operator’s platform can now be accessed in Spain, Italy, Mexico, Panama and Colombia.
The strategic significance, though, of Buenos Aires – the largest city in one of Latin America’s largest countries – did not go unnoticed by Codere’s management.
According to Managing Director Moshe Edree: “Starting operations in the City of Buenos Aires is a critical milestone in our business plan and a complimentary opportunity to Codere Group’s strategy in Argentina, where it entered in 1992 and is currently a well-established operator with 13 bingo halls and a strong brand awareness in the Province of Buenos Aires.”
Edree went on to note the sheer size of the market: “The adult population of the City of Buenos Aires is nearly 2.4 million, which together with between three and four million commuters, provides us with a sizable opportunity to reach new customers.”
As per the new license, people over the age of 18 will be allowed to use Codere’s online gaming and sports betting services on computers, tablets or phones. Sporting events across Argentina will be fair game for bets.
To expand its presence and visibility in the market, Codere has recently begun sponsoring the River Plate football club in the country.
