FanDuel will expand its mobile sportsbook to a sixth state, while DraftKing will grow its digital sportsbook to a fifth state and add a retail sportsbook at Mardi Gras Casino.
Late last week, Twin River finalized acquisitions of three casinos in Black Hawk, Colorado including Mardi Gras Casino.
Twin River also received three sports gaming licenses. Two licenses led to the creation of these partnerships while the third will be retained for future use.
Twin River CEO George Papanier said: “Obtaining the right to three sports gaming licenses in Colorado will expand our footprint in the state well beyond our Arapahoe Park racetrack and off-track betting network.”
DraftKings and FanDuel are likely to be two of the biggest players in Colorado given their success in previous states.
DraftKings CBO Ezra Kucharz said: “Coast to coast, DraftKings is committed to providing states across the country with the ultimate experience in legal sports betting.”
According to FanDuel, sports wagering in Colorado could begin as early as the start of May.
FanDuel CEO Matt King said: “Twin River has been engaged in sports betting since the beginning in Rhode Island and Mississippi, and they are an ideal partner as we continue to enter states that open up online and mobile sports betting.”
