Targeting live casino market, Scientific Games acquires Authentic Gaming
Move marks the industry stalwarts first foray into live casino operations.
Scientific Games Corporation has purchased Authentic Gaming, a company specializing in live casino solutions. The acquisition means that Scientific Games has effectively moved into the live casino market, an area which accounts for 30% of the global iGaming market.
The purchase – made for an undisclosed sum – is part of Scientific Games’ larger strategic plan to become the world’s leading cross-platform gaming company. Anticipating the future growth of the iGaming market, the Las Vegas-based company is bent on diversifying its offerings across the board.
It sees the acquisition of Authentic as a key step in developing its capacity to have live casino offerings in-house. Scientific Games is hoping to grow its IP offerings while furthering its relationship with land-based operators.
Authentic is a sound jumping off point for this endeavor. Based in Malta, the company is known for providing iGaming to the live casino market across Europe. Currently, it is integrated with 30 operators across the continent. It is especially known for its live roulette games that are popular on a desktop or mobile platform.
Scientific Games has stated that it will extend Authentic’s offerings across the US as well as build new studios in the country so that products can be more suitably adapted to the American market.
