Rivalry Corp., the international sports betting and media group, has officially submitted its application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to become a registered operator of internet gaming and sports betting.
If the application is approved – which the company expects will happen at some time in the first half of 2022 – Rivalry will have its registration issued through AGCO’s subsidiary, iGaming Ontario. With all of these formalities in order, Rivalry will be in a position to offer esports and sports betting, as well as its casino offering Rushlane, across Ontario.
Group CEO and co-founder, Steven Salz, sees the growth of the product in the province as a natural next step. “As a Toronto-based company, and a long-standing member of the tech ecosystem here, we could not be more excited for the opportunity to finally offer our incredible product and brand experiences at home in our own backyard.”
Salz then noted the pivotal role played by the Ontario Government in easing the doing of business for the gaming community.
“We applaud the Government of Ontario for its leadership in developing a robust licensing regime for iGaming. Ontario’s iGaming framework has the potential to set an international precedent for how to successfully launch an open licensing model in North America, protect consumers through prudent responsible gambling practices, and attract and create thousands of highly paid tech jobs in Ontario.”
Since being founded in Toronto in 2018, Rivalry has grown into one of the region’s preeminent gaming and sports betting platforms. Already in 18 countries, it seems appropriate that it expands its offerings at home.
