Caesars Sportsbook, the sports betting arm of the operator Caesars Entertainment, is set to pursue the signature of ESPN’s top NFL analyst, Adam Schefter, when his contract expires next year.
As per a report from Front Office Sports, Schefter, who has worked at ESPN since 2009, is unlikely to sign a new contract with the major sports brand and is instead tempted to join the fast-growing sportsbook.
However, while the two companies refused to comment, a source told Front Office Sports:“ESPN absolutely wants to keep Schefty. If you notice, they’ve been expanding his purview, even allowing him to dabble in NBA coverage if he wants.”
Contrastingly, another report claimed: “The competitive landscape is shifting under our feet as we speak. The legacy networks want to cut or maintain talent salaries. The gambling companies are flush (with money) - and increasingly willing to spend for sports media talent.”
The 54-year-old has covered a number of the biggest sporting events since taking on his role at ESPN. The analyst features in shows such as Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, Get Up, SportsCenter, and NFL Live.
According to reports, the media personality is likely to receive offers from the United State’s other sports betting giants, including DraftKings and FanDuel.
Recently, Caesars Sportsbook was named the official sports betting partner of LSU Athletics. Caesars will receive marketing and sponsorship assets from LASU Athletics, including the naming rights for the new Caesars Sportsbook Skyline Club at Tiger Stadium.
