Deal will see IGT update its Intelligen platform in the region.

Announced today, the Canadian division of International Game Technology, IGT Canada Solutions, has agreed a contract extension with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) authority to supply its Intelligen system to the region’s lottery offering.

Per the agreement, which runs to July 2026, IGT will upgrade Alberta’s video lottery central system to the up-to-date version of Intelligen. This includes new features such as improved network diagnostics and stability.

"IGT's Intelligen systems software supports the volume, complexity, and security of monitoring video lottery terminals throughout Alberta," said Nick Khin, IGT chief operating officer, gaming.

Furthermore, this extension will see AGLC receive a number of iLink Ultras, IGT’s retailer site controller that allows for increased flexibility via an updated user interface and a separate point-of-sale device and logic box.

"As the leader in the regulated video lottery industry with more G2S deployments and specific VLT features than any other vendor, IGT developed its Intelligen system to respond to the unique needs of its customers. AGLC will receive the most advanced updates Intelligen has to offer, allowing them access to quick insight into the status of their entire VLT network," continued Khin.

Last week saw IGT appoint Jose Asher as the company’s president of sports betting. The position, effective from October 1, will see Asher lead the ongoing expansion of the IGT PlaySports sports betting business in North American markets. Asher previously served as CEO of William Hill US.

"The PlaySports sports betting solution is among the most widely used in the U.S., powering approximately 50 US sportsbooks for 20 customers across 18 states. We expect continued growth in our PlaySports business, and Joe Asher's knowledge, experience, network and vision for sports betting are key ingredients to boosting our future success," said Enrico Drago, IGT CEO digital & betting.
