Caesars Southern Indiana opens

The $90m Caesars Southern Indiana opened earlier this week after 18 months of construction.
The land-based casino located in Elizabeth, Ind. replaces the 21-year old Horseshoe Southern Indiana riverboat casino.
Caesars hopes to bring in many customers from nearby Louisville.
Caesars Southern Indiana SVP and GM Brad Seigel said: “ With completely new gaming
facilities, increased amenities and new restaurant offerings, Caesars Southern Indiana will
elevate the experience for our guests.”
The 110,000-square foot facility features a sportsbook known as “The Book” as well as slot
machines, poker and table games.
The casino also features a Piazza with five restaurants, multiple lounges and a high limits gaming area.
Caesars is surely looking to capitalize on the rise of sports betting in the state.
Indiana sportsbooks brought in $9.3m of November revenue with handle up to a record $147.3m.
Caesars Southern Indiana earned monthly revenue of $84,000 at the casino’s final month as Horseshoe Southern Indiana.
Of the 11 licensed sportsbooks in the state, Caesars finished second to last in revenue.
Caesars’ decision to build a land-based casino near the location of the previous riverboat resulted from a 2015 amendment that allowed Indiana casinos to move from water to land.
In May, Indiana legislators approved a bill to legalize sports betting.
