With Connecticut preparing to fully launch sports betting in early October, the state gaming authority has certified Genius Sports as an official Online Gaming Service Provider.
“We are thrilled that Connecticut has awarded Genius Sports its inaugural online gaming service provider permit, allowing authorized sportsbooks access to our industry-leading solutions,” said Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports.
Genius Sports is now authorized to operate in 17 states across the United States. The company provides official data, streaming, and marketing solutions for sportsbooks and lotteries.
This news will see sportsbooks in the state of Connecticut able to utilize Genius’ official sports and betting data via its partnerships with the NFL, EPL, FIBA, NCAA, NASCAR, AFA, and the PGA.
“There are an increasing number of US states looking to provide their residents with the best quality fan experiences while capturing the full value available to the state. Genius Sports welcomes the opportunity to work with states like Connecticut, using our official sports data-powered solutions to underpin their authorized sportsbooks,” added Locke.
Sports betting was first legalized in Connecticut in May 2021. If current plans go ahead, the state will fully launch its online sportsbook operations on October 7, 2021.
In regards to retail betting, both FanDuel and DraftKings have been authorized to operate sportsbooks at the Mohegan Sun and Foxwood Resort properties respectively.
Today, Genius has also announced an expansion to its existing agreement with BetMGM. The sports data company will now provide the betting platform with its full NFL offering including data feeds, sportsbook content, and fan engagement tools. This agreement will extend to all Entain brands.
Throughout September, Genius inked a number of sports betting partnerships with some of the US’s biggest gaming companies. These include deals with Golden Nugget Online Gaming and Penn National.
