International Game Technology (IGT) has today announced the establishment of a dedicated digital and betting business segment, which will comprise of the company’s igaming and sports betting activities that were once part of its global gaming segment.
Per this announcement, beginning with the third quarter of 2021, IGT will report its financial results under three separate segments: global lottery, global gaming and digital and betting.
Digital and betting will be headed by Enrico Drago, who will take on the role of CEO. Drago, who previously oversaw the IGT igaming, ilottery and sports betting business as senior vice president of PlayDigital, will report to Marco Sala, CEO of IGT.
Drago will take on the position immediately.
Drago took on the role of senior vice president of PlayDigital in July 2018 where he produced a fast-growing portfolio of digital gaming, lottery and sports betting products.
"IGT has established strong leadership positions and driven dynamic growth across its igaming and sports betting businesses,” said Sala. “With significant growth expected to continue, we have decided to establish a dedicated digital & betting business segment. These businesses have become strategically important to IGT as they afford us the opportunity to leverage the global reach and strong customer relationships of our global gaming segment. The new structure gives us more flexibility in our product and solutions portfolio and enables better appreciation of the intrinsic value of these activities."
With this update, and in advance of the company’s Q3 earnings call, IGT also announced a soon to be released recast of its historical financials to reflect the new segment disclosure.
IGT works across a number of channels and segments throughout the gaming industry including machines, lotteries, sports betting and digital. The company is currently active in over 100 countries, employing 11,000 people.
