The Las Vegas region welcomed 3.3m visitors in July, the strongest month since the pandemic according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

July visitor volume was up 11.2% from June and improvement of 130% year-on-year. Visitation was down 10.4% from July 2019.

July marked the opening of Resorts World Las Vegas and the return of several major shows as well as a Fourth of July fireworks celebration.

Room inventory for the month was approximately 150,000, a 21.4% increase y-o-y and a 0.9% improvement from the same month two years ago. Hotel occupancy climbed to 79.4% including 88.1% on weekends.

The Las Vegas Strip reported occupancy of 81.3%, up 4% m-o-m, up 39.4% y-o-y, and down 12.1% from July 2019.

Downtown casinos, by comparison, saw occupancy of 65.6%, which was a 1.2% decline from June. Visitors to Las Vegas were evidently smitten on staying on the Strip.

“(Average daily rate) ADR came in very strong during the month, reaching $152, surpassing last month by 19%, and RevPAR beat comparable 2019 monthly levels for the first time as it reached $120.79, up +24.4% MoM and 4.5% ahead of July 2019,” the LVCVA said.

Strip ADR of $160.71 was well above Downtown at $101.54.

The LVCVA did not count any convention attendance for the month. In July 2019, Las Vegas welcomed approximately 500,000 convention attendees.

Las Vegas continued to see positive travel demand by car, as average daily auto traffic on major highways was 144,000, up 1.1% m-o-m, up 17.8% y-o-y, and an improvement of 6.1% from the same month two years prior.

Las Vegas has welcomed approximately 16.8m visitors through the first seven months of the year.
