GAN to open Miami technology office

Online gaming platform provider GAN announced plans to open an office in Miami dedicated to growing the company’s technology workforce.

GAN said it expects to hire approximately 100 employees at the Miami technology hub over the next few years.

The office will be in Wynwood District, north of downtown Miami.

“There’s a resource pool here of high-quality engineering talent that is, of course, sought after by lots of different companies. We know that Miami is an emerging technology hub,” said Dermot Smurfit, President & CEO of GAN. “Wynwood is an incredibly creative, high-energy environment for developers of all kinds. It’s the art district, it’s an unbelievably vibrant Latin-American cultural center point, and you’ve got a wide range of amenities to keep the forthcoming ‘GANsters’ here at Wynwood engaged and retained.”

Irvine, California-based GAN offers end-to-end solutions to the real money internet gaming, online sports betting, and simulated gaming industries.

Opening a Miami office gives the company better proximity to east coast and European tech hubs, said Michael Endres, Director – Production Solutions.

“We want to be a U.S. center of excellence,” Endres said. “We want to be able to develop, deploy, and most importantly, massively improve our platform.”

Krista Pappas, Senior Director – Global Human Resources, said GAN will initially hire about 20 people at the Miami office and grow the number to 50-60. From there, “the sky’s the limit,” Pappas said.

The Miami location also puts GAN in closer reach to the Latin American market, which helped fuel the company's second quarter 2021 revenue of $34-35m.

"The B2B business is performing in-line with our expectations and continuing to win new clients here in the US while the B2C business is capitalizing on the Latin American market opportunity, equipped with a highly social sports offering delivering viral customer acquisition," Smurfit said last month.

GAN is the second U.S. gaming company to announce a tech hub expansion in the Southeast region in recent months.

In June FanDuel Group announced it would develop a technology campus in Atlanta that will hire approximately 900 workers over the next five years.
