Sportradar launches remote anti-doping technology
System uses blockchain technology and focuses on being less invasive for athletes.
Sport integrity solutions provider Sportradar has today announced the launch of a new anti-doping technology titled the remote testing system.
This new system enables anti-doping organizations to perform testing remotely. It has been developed with the logistical problems presented by the Covid19 pandemic in mind.
The remote testing system uses a secure process, utilizing blockchain technology, multi-factor authentication and a server cluster to store data securely. Furthermore, newly developed methods such as exhaled breath analysis, as well as dried blood spot analysis feature in Sportradar’s system.
The company has also highlighted that this technology will allow for significant cost reduction and therefore aid in the process of enhancing the anti-doping industry.
Speaking on the development, Dominic Mueser, head of anti-doping services at Sportradar said: “The Remote Testing System, Sportradar’s latest step into anti-doping, doesn’t replace traditional testing methods, rather it enhances existing methods and modernizes the process in a manner that addresses the realities of a new, post-pandemic world. “
“It also ensures athletes around the world can be tested without the requirement of physical contact or additional protocols, which can be cumbersome, at best, or highly challenging, at worst, at the present time.”
Sportradar launched its anti-doping service unit in 2019 in an attempt to provided digitalized and intelligence-based solutions for anti-doping organizations and sports leagues.
The sports betting company was established in 2001 and is currently active in over 120 countries. The organization is an official partner for the NBA, NHL, MLB, Nascar and UEFA.
