The Australian studio continues to increase its presence in Latin America.

According to a release, Sydney-based Lightning Box will make its online debut in the Colombian market.

The slots provider has launched its product online through its distributor SG Digital. Two of the company’s recent releases have launched at Betsson casino, including Blown Away and Dragon Palace.
“Colombia’s slots players have been enjoying two of our games in bricks and mortar venues for some time now, so we’re excited to be able to offer them games on their personal devices too,” said Peter Causley, CEO and co-founder of Lightning Box.“Dragon Palace was a natural one to take live after its early successes and we hope Blown Away goes down well too. We also hope that Colombia is the first of many countries to welcome Lightning Box’s games in Latin America as the area continues to regulate.”

This online debut is facilitated by Betsson, who in the last year has greatly expanded their Latin American presence. In 2020, the Swedish operator revealed plans to acquire 70% of the Colombian gambling firm Colbet. This followed the 2019 acquisition of a 75% share in the Brazilian operator Sauposta.

Speaking on the company’s expansion into the Latin American market in 2020, Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson said the company made a "major step in strengthening its presence in the region by purchasing a 70% stake in Colbet,” a move that will enable it to access the online casino and sports betting markets in Colombia.

Founded in 2004, Lightning Box develops games through the lens of mathematics and has produced games such as Golden Yak, Blown Away and Silver Lion.
